Act Now to Support a Needed Economic and Housing Solution
Tell Congress to Pass the Revitalizing Downtowns Act.
Congress can help cities across the country recover from the pandemic, create jobs and build more affordable homes by passing the Revitalizing Downtowns Act.
Right now, 72.9M+ square feet of office space sits vacant throughout the U.S. as a result of the transition to remote work due to the pandemic. Underutilized and vacant buildings can have significant, long-term consequences for downtown areas and business districts.
Many of these areas across the country are also facing acute housing shortages that are driving up rent and home prices.
The Revitalizing Downtowns Act would address both issues by creating a tax credit to convert unused office buildings into residential, commercial and retail spaces. This legislation would encourage businesses to invest in downtown markets and require at least 20% of the residential conversion to be affordable homes and rentals.
Please use this form to contact your Member of Congress today and urge them to co-sponsor the Revitalizing Downtowns Act!
